LIGHT and DARK

It is on rare occasions that I get preachy on my blog, because I don't want to cause any dissension amongst friends and family. I know that the Holy Spirit cares more about me (and all believers) to live in unity rather than in dissension. He calls us to be bridge builders, to forgive (even when we feel we are right), because we have a light that shines before all men, and it is a light that is not to be hidden! God even tells us in Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." So before I continue I would like you to read a passage from Isaiah, and another from Luke:
Isaiah 5:19-21

19 to those who say, “Let God hurry;
let him hasten his work
so we may see it.
The plan of the Holy One of Israel—
let it approach, let it come into view,
so we may know it.”
20 Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight.

Luke 11:33-35

The Lamp of the Body
33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,[b] your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.

The idea here is that "Christians" who do things in secret or live their lives in the shadows are in grave danger of NOT being Christians at all. God is very clear throughout scripture that you cannot live both in the light and in darkness, you cannot serve two masters! I have learned in my years of ministry that people who do things in secret do so because they know that what they are doing is wrong. Those who hide their light under a bushel "OH NO" do so because under that bushel they can say or do whatever it is they want to say or do, and eventually their light will shine no more. Once you begin living in the darkness then you will never understand the light, because in that darkness you can say or be anyone you want to be. A close personal friend and mentor Keith Drury said that as Christians we should strive to live our lives as open books and to have EVERY page available for the public to read. The reason for that is because if you hand someone the book to your life but black out a few pages here and there or tell everyone that they can read every page but the last 4 pages, so as humans what pages do you think we would be most interested in reading??? That is why I truly do my best to live in the light. That is why my blog is for the world to read, it's also why I have so many friends on facebook and will add just about anybody, because I have nothing to hide! I don't have secret aliases nor do I have spies or use others accounts so I can "hide" what it is I'm attempting to do! The only reason one would "hide" is so they can keep saying or doing what they've said or done in the dark because they know if the light were to see into the dark then their deeds would be exposed. The Lord say's "Let your light shine before ALL MEN, so that your good deeds may be seen and the Lord be Glorified!"

My hope in writing this is to not cause more drama, but to prevent it. It's easy to say whatever it is you want to say when no one knows who you are, because in the dark there is no one there to keep you accountable. My world is wide open, and I challenge you to live your life with an open book too because there is freedom in that. I know that there are things in my past that are hard to answer but the beauty of being a believer is knowing that once I've asked for forgiveness then that sin is no longer mine!!! That is one amazing God that we serve!!! Those with Godly wisdom can discern between right and wrong, good and evil, light and dark simply by noticing if a person is wondering in the shadows, blocking their comments, saying one thing but doing another, these are all signs of someone who does not know the light. There will be times when even those who live in the light say or do the wrong thing but when living in the light we have friends who lovingly correct us, family that prays for us, a church that is there for us, and a loving God who Forgives us!!!

Again, I'm sorry for the sermon, but it felt like it was needed and Holy Spirit inspired. I love you all.

Christmas was wonderful this year! The best gift I received this year was 8 days in a row with my son. We did a variety of things together but one of the most special was seeing him play a wise man in the childrens church musical. Now that he was a superstar at church he found himself a little girlfriend, ah they grow up so fast...lol. At night when we'd get ready for bed Judah would craw on me as if he couldn't get close enough. He would kiss grandma and papa goodnight and then we'd head to bed and read some books. After saying our prayers I would tell Judah stories and scratch his head until he falls asleep. He truly is a daddy's boy. Enjoy the videos and pictures!

JUDAH TURNS 2!!!

Judah turned two on Tuesday November 17th! It was a great birthday party with most of the family in attendance. We had taco night and Judah loved eating it and I loved cleaning it out of his diaper the next day....yuck!!!...LOL. It truly was a great birthday party and I thank all those who were there, who helped with food, and brought gifts, THANK YOU!!! Judah truly loved every moment of it and the gifts were perfect! Enjoy the birthday videos! Beyond the birthday party Judah fit right in with the other boys his age at church. It works out so perfect because about 75% of the children who attend our church are 3 and under, so Judah has lots of friends. It was great seeing him hug and run around with his new best buddies Vanden and Aiden. He danced during worship practice and went to the nursery with ease. I was a little worried about him going to the nursery because he is attached to my hip but going to Monkey Joe's with the boys the day before helped him loosen up.
Judah and I got to watch our first Colt's game together on Sunday! He actually sat there most of the time and would get excited when I got excited and we would boo when the Patriots scored a touchdown. He loved his new Colts apparel and outfit so it's good to know he will always be a fan!

There is nothing like pulling up to the drive and getting out of the car and seeing you little boy just light up from ear to ear. He takes off running towards me and starts looking for the doggies (Maddy and Teddy) before he's even in the car. He wont take a nap without them and Judah goes to bed they are both up there laying down next to him protecting him. It's amazing how dogs can since or smell who's your kid and who's not. Even though Judah falls all over them they still continue to come back for more and love on him.

It cracks me up how much Judah is like me. My family continues to say how much he acts just like me even at his age. I love seeing that in him and knowing that in a way a part of me is always carried on. I think that is why grandparents get such a kick out of their grand kids because they can still see a part of them in the grand children. We were all talking about that with Judah and a friend said that poor Judah has about 90% of my dad in him...lol, I don't think the world can handle two Richard Coles. I hope you enjoy the videos!

I know this has been a long time in the making but I want to thank all of my friends and family for their prayer and support! The court made a ruling on Judahs' last name this past week and the child advocate lawyer, the psychologist, and the judge all decided that it was in Judahs best interest that his last name be changed to COLE!!!!!!!! One good thing is I don't have to change my blog name...lol but it is great news to a father knowing that your son will carry on your last name. This was just as important to me as it was my father, he is very happy that his grandson will carry on the name that he has worked so hard to protect and make "good". Besides God's blessings in this situation it was also a tremendous blessing to bring Judah back to Indiana with me for the first time! He got to go and spend the weekend with all the family, everyone from the grandparents to all his cousins and my nieces and nephews. The family went crazy over him and everyone fought over who's bed he got to sleep in, daddy won that fight..lol. He also got to go fishing, swimming, rode around on the golf cart, chase bullfrogs, and be spoiled rotten by grandma and grandpa. Worlds Smallest Circus!!!

Even thought this was the worst circus I have ever been to the priceless look on Judahs face was worth every penny. It was great being able to share his first circus with him. Just to give you an idea of how small the circus was the vendors, clean-up crew, clowns, and stage hands were also the performers that rotated from spot to spot during the show. But to a 17 month old it was the worlds greatest thing! All he could do is point and smile saying, that, that, that, that, it was soooo cute!!! I love him so much and was so glad to be the one to share that with him. I hope you enjoy the pictures and videos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Good Feeling

I have pictures and videos but you will have to wait a bit before I post them. What I want to share with you is a good feeling, or better yet a GREAT FEELING! When I went to pick up Judah a couple weeks ago I went up to the car and he caught just a glimpse of who was approaching the car and I saw him light up like a Christmas tree! I had to go back to my vehicle and when I came back to Jodi's car Judah had his face PLASTERED up against the window with his nose squished against the glass and slobber running down the window because of his "father like" cheesy grin, and the closer I got he began to bounce up and down. As he was taken out of the car he couldn't get to my arms fast enough, and as I grabbed him he took both his hands and put them on the sides of my face and looked me in the eyes almost as to say "hi daddy, I've missed you!"

With every visit he continues to get more and more excited to see me and every time I drop him off I can tell it is getting harder and harder for him to let go. It is a tough thing to have such joy and sadness at the same time. I love my son greatly and I'm so happy that he is overjoyed to see me as I am overjoyed to see him as well but that sadness in letting him go hurts my heart and as he gets older it will do the same to him as well. As he looks back to see where I'm going I wish he would understand that I'll be back and that I'll be there for him whenever he needs me.

I guess the reason I'm writing this is to let those of you who read my blog and don't just come for the Anne Geddes baby pictures (she's the one that puts babies in flowers and bear outfits etc..) and the Steven Spielberg videos with the amazing C.G.I. effects of me and my son actually having a good time together...lol, feeling left out. I wanted to put down my heart in writing rather than people trying to see it in a video or a picture. Sometimes people can see it better in words than in a movie. They say a picture say's a thousand words so rather than post a picture I figured I'd just write the 1000 words...lol. I hope all is well with everyone! Judah and I are doing great!

Well good things come to those who wait. Hopefully you will enjoy the the new pictures and videos! I want to give a big shout out to all my friends who have come and spent time with me and my son, you guys are awesome! It tickles my funny bone that the first thing that everyone says about Judah's personality is he acts just like his daddy. He is the most lovable little boy, there's not a stranger he doesn't know and you can already tell he's compassionate towards other kids which is a rare thing for children his age. I could brag all day on my boy as I'm sure all the other parents out there could brag on theirs. It also means that his mother is doing a good job as well, yeah you heard me, he minds really well so it means that there is some consistency. Ok all enjoy the pictures and videos. Also there are a few pictures of my brother Andy's new baby girl. She weighed 8lbs 6ozs I believe and was almost 21 inches long and was very very healthy! Her full name is Jocie Sueanne Cole.

I know, I know, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! But I do have a good reason for not keeping this updated lately. It seems that there are a lot of cats out of the bag and since this one was announced on Sunday the cat is no longer in the bag so I'm free to talk about it. My senior pastor is leaving to seek warmer climate. He has been suffering with his allergies for the past couple years and our old church has only made it worse. So, he has been on vacation for the past couple weeks leaving me in charge of a church of 250+ with no other staff to help. I used to think that teens took up a lot of your time boy was I in for a surprise! Just this past week alone from Sunday to Saturday, I had over 70+ hours of ministry, WHAT BLOWS MY MIND IS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WERE WITH MY SON SO THEY WEREN'T COUNTED AS MINISTRY SO BASICALLY I WORKED 70hrs in a 5 day week! I don't even have time to go to the bathroom to get a tissue so i just wipe the boogers under my desk!!! LOL...just a joke...well, maybe not completely. I have a lot of videos to show so please don't lose faith yet. I'm hoping to do it here soon! This transition happened really quick. Put it this way three weeks ago pastor Jeff thought he was staying another year or so and now his last sermon is this Sunday, so be praying for him. I love church boards as well, I asked them now that I'm taking the role of the senior pastor do I get paid more, and they just chuckled and moved on. I'm glad that I'm not in ministry for the money. Okay all, I just wanted to keep you posted and to please be patient with me.

I know these pictures are somewhat cheesy but we had a great time taking them. I hate to say it but one of the dumbest gifts I ever got were pictures of my nieces and nephews. My sister in-laws were so happy when they handed out the pictures and I put on a smile and didn't get why they were so happy to give me a picture of their kids. WELL, I GET IT!!! I'm sorry sis' for not enjoying the pictures a few years ago, but I enjoy them now. You don't quite understand the bond that a father and son has until you experience it. It's no wonder why boys who are raised by their mothers have so many problems verses boys raised by their fathers because that bond is something that can't be recreated by anything or anyone else. Judah is beginning that stage where he mimics everything I do and the sounds that I make. You can tell that he is studying so hard because he wants to be like his daddy. It makes me understand why boys have such problems when a father is absent from his life because the example that they are searching for is not there. It also raises the level of accountability in my life so that I can be the best example possible for Judah. Ok, thanks for letting me ramble, here are some pictures and videos. Oh, and he just started walking so take note of how coordinated my boy is and he's not even a year yet.

With only seeing Judah every now and then I always wonder if he remembers me, if he knows I'm daddy, or if he sees me as a random baby sitter. On a less depressing and sad note Judah and I had a great time with my son this past week. For the first time he smiled and reached for me just as soon as he saw me. Dad's, you are right that is the best feeling in the world. When he begins mimicking your actions you just become so proud and want to squeeze and kiss him. Sorry it has taken me so long to put up new pictures. Life has been crazy lately but very good! The new church has been keeping me really busy but it's been such a blessing to be back doing the things that God has called and wants me to do. I wanted to share with you how awesome God is and how much he has blessed me lately. It would seem that it's hard to top hanging out with Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne for a week, meeting Meg Ryan, and buying my car from AROD (Alex Rodriguez) but God continues to pour out and most of all at a time when you wasn't sure if He was listening. The new church has been amazing and such a blessing of support and love, and beyond that I was looking for a house here in the community and just when I didn't think I was going to find anything that would fit my budget a couple from the church that had been asking $109,000 for their house accepted my offer of $55,000!!! Truly God is good and I can't thank Him enough for his many blessings and most of all I can't thank Him enough for my son. I miss him every minute of every day but putting up pictures helps me to feel somewhat closer to him. I'm glad that I can share him with all of you rather than to be selfish and keep him to myself, and I understand now why people get so excited to pull out pictures of their kids in their wallets. Hanging with Daddy

It was awesome spending time with my son this past week. He is a very happy baby as was I when I was little, so I've been told, so hopefully he will be just like me. We had the best time together playing at the hotel and swimming. Every time he splashed the water he would kick and smile in amazement. Hopefully soon he will be coming home with me. He's finally starting to realize that I'm daddy and that is a good feeling. Both Judah and I have been through a lot this year but when we are together we tend to forget about the problems and enjoy the time we have with each other. Keep praying it is paying off, and thanks to all of you who have been praying about my new job. The church is wonderful and very encouraging and loving, I couldn't have asked for a better place. These past two weeks have been crazy! It was quite a transition from working in California at Ozzy Osborns house and then flying over night to meet up with my new church for a missions trip. The youth ministry and I went down to North Carolina to work with the HINTON center building houses and various remodeling projects for the poorer people in this part of the state. There is nothing like spending your first week on the job not knowing anybody and leading a week long missions trip with a bunch of Jr. / Sr. High students. The truth is I couldn't have planned a better way to build relationships with these teens in a better and faster way than serving the Lord together in missions. It was a great week but I am wiped! I don't have any pictures of the trip but I do have some pictures that I promissed of my trip to California. They are random pictures so don't expect much as I wasn't allowed to take many photos. I do have one picture of Meg Ryan where I met her in line at the supermarket. I snuck a picture of her while she wasn't looking so it's not that good but I promis you it was her. Enjoy!

Today I got the full tour of the house and saw some of the most amazing things in a house that I've ever seen. The first floor was very comfortable and you could tell that most of the items in the house had come from all over the world. Everything from huge vases to beautiful hand crafted furniture. It would take forever to describe all the details that were on the first floor. Heading down to the basement the stairs were lined from top to bottom covering every inch of the wall were nothing but Gold and Platnum records. The doors heading into the basement were 9 foot doors weighing over 300lbs each! The first room you walk into is a sound studio with the most expensive recording studio equipment you've ever seen. There was a small room on the left with a gold mic and mic stand that had been hand crafted where Ozzy does his voice recordings. Now this was the coolest thing I saw, behind the studio was Ozzy's personal chambers. The walls were red and black with very low lighting and a huge fire place that you'd see in a castle. Above the fire place was a huge 60in plasma tv and in the middle of the room was the coolest velvit couch and to the left of the couch was a HUGE wooden chair that looks like it was made for a king. It had a high back and large arm rests with some of the most intricut woodwork I've ever seen. What I'm going to tell you next is something that only few people in the world have seen. In this room was a book case filled with very old books. Kim and I walked up to the book case and Kim pulled a lever on the book case and it came out from the wall and opened up into a secret room. In this room hung guitars that Ozzy has collected from the beginning of his career and other guitars that had been given to him by BB King and many others. There was no telling how much these guitars were worth. I can't tell you how much of a privilage it was to see all this stuff and get a glimps of rocking roll history!

OZZY AND THE SNAKE!

So many of you are finding out that I'm in California working on Ozzy Ozborns house. The rumors are true. Don't ask me how it happened, all i can say is that it happened and maybe later I'll tell you how this all came about. Today was the first day working there and as me and another guy were moving the wood pile we found a rattle snake under the wood pile. One guy grabbed the snake and we were taking it to toss it in the field until Ozzy came running out yelling "Wheres the F....ing snake!" This was my first encounter with Ozzy and as he stood beside me looking at the snake I stood there in a little shock realizing that I'm STANDING NEXT TO OZZY! After the drama had ended and i was heading back to building the new dog house for all the dogs Sharon yells to me "look out for the snakes", all I could do was smile and laugh realizing that Sharon Ozborn was talking to me! It was fun seeing them all day long and it was cool that they were so cool and did thier best to be friendly with me and the 2 other guys. I look back on this day and realize that I worked hand n hand with the overweight Mexican gardner who I saw on the MTV show "The Ozborns" and also got licked to death by the dogs that I saw on TV every week. I'm not sure if the highlight of the day was Ozzy running around in his underwear or Sharon spending all day in her bathrobe and all this fun was on my first day, I can't wait to see how the rest of the week turns out. Feel free to ask questions but I can't get any pictures or autographs as it could put me in a bad light with the Ozborns and I wont do that. If i do get any pictures I'll post them when I get back home.

Thank you for your prayers, God has been answering so your prayers are still appriciated! Things have started to turn around with visitations with my son and I'm able to have him without hassel. My friend Todd went with me a few weeks ago but my parents went with me last week and it was great! Judah was so loveable and only fussed when he was hungry. He would get excited and smile everytime I entered the room. He loved being with my mom and dad as well. He is getting big and eats like a Cole, he chugged his bottle faster than any kid I've seen. Please continue to pray with me for custody, his current situation needs to be changed so all prayers are welcomed. Enjoy the pictures!

Two weeks ago was my birth day and the best gift I got the week of my birth day was being able to share my son Judah Cole with my cousin, Danielle Freed! Judah was a little unsure of Danielle at first but slowly started to warm up to her and by the second day Judah loved his little hugs and kisses from Danielle. Danielle thinks that its not healthy to baby and hold a child all day and let no one else do it because it creates an unhealthy bond and problems when mother and child have to seperate. You can tell that this is a pattern in Judah but wont last long with a family like the Coles who have an amazing since to bring the crazy out in any individual...lol. Judah and I are falling more and more in love as father and son with each visit. He would cry when others picked him up but dry up and cuddly up when I put him in my arms. He is a beautiful boy, its a good thing he looks like his dad....lol. I get to see him again this Wednesday and Thursday March 26th 27th. Pray for me and whoever else wants to go that it will be a peaceful time in a stressful situation. Thanks.

It was awesome to see my son this week! It has been months since our last visit and hes just a little over 3 months old so its been an eternity. (Not that I haven't tried). We had an awesome time together, and hopefully soon I'll be able to bring him home with me so that everyone else can love on him as well. At first he was unsure who I was but after a while we really started to bond. It is good to know that there is still some justice in the world because my son looks just like a Cole! My mom and I pulled out everyones baby pictures and he looks just like me, big head and all! We can all only hope that he acts just like me as well...lol! Enjoy the pictures and video everyone! It is amazing the love you have for a baby when it's yours.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry it has taken so long for me to put up a new post. I've been waiting to see what is going to happen with my son. Someone decided to try and name his last name Mitchelle, when both he mother and I have the last name Cole. That is only the beginning of the crazyness. So pray with me that things will begin to settle down and stop being so stupid crazy for my sake and my sons as well. Since I have no good news about Judah I am going to post some news about me. We have a new RV in our family, as you see my DAD IS THRILLED ABOUT IT! It is awesome but needs some work. Here are some pictures of that beast and the work that lies ahead. I had a wonderful Christmas and an even better New Year! I had my friends together and we partied like it was 1999.....lol. Let me know how everyone is doing.

Hello All!!! The day has come and my boy is here in this world!!! He is perfect in every way! He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz, and he was 22 1/2 inches long. He was born November 17th around 2:00pm. I didn't find out until later that day and wasn't aloud to see him until today (tuesday), but one thing I realize is you can't control other people. This blog is open for all to see and will not be password protected so all can comment and enjoy whats going on in my and my sons life.

Hopefully within the next 30 days my son will be here with me! His name is Judah M. Cole. I am looking forward to the day that I can hold him and rock him to sleep. Please be praying with me over the next month that nothing will happen to him through the last month of pregnancy. As soon as I can I will have pictures to post so that all can see him.
